US ceasefire proposal just another excuse for continued killing in Gaza: Hamas

Hamas has kept the ceasefire proposal with Israel proposed by US President Donald Trump's administration "at the negotiating stage," but it believes the proposal in its current form will only "continue to kill and starve" in Gaza, a Hamas official said.

A senior Hamas official said this.

On Thursday, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said Israel had already agreed to the ceasefire proposal. The Trump administration's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, had sent the proposal to Hamas for review.

Meanwhile, Hamas political bureau member Bassem Naim told Reuters, "This agreement does not meet any of the demands of our people. One of the demands is to stop the war." Nevertheless, Naim said Hamas leaders were examining the proposal with full national responsibility.

Details of the new US proposal have not yet been released. However, senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri told Reuters that the most important thing is that Israel does not promise to stop the fighting in Gaza. There is no mention of the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip. There is also no clear guarantee that humanitarian aid will reach the war-torn areas.

The Israeli government has not yet officially confirmed that it has approved the new proposal.
